The Cooking Group meets occasionally throughout the year, giving loge members the opportunity to try out new Norwegian recipes, and try food made by others.

Lefse School - May 2011

Lefse School was held at the Norway House in May 2011. Debbie Fosaaen and Bill Knutson served as our instructors. The students had a great time mastering the art of rolling lefse. There were numerous samplings of warm lefse plain, with butter, with cinnamon and sugar, with butter and sugar. Four Filmfest DC attendees won certificates to attend lefse school.

March 2011

The March Cooking Group meeting was held at a member's home in Washington, DC. Each participant was asked to bring a Norwegian dish to be shared with the group. The cook was given an opportunity to describe the ingredients and  process of making the dish as the group tasted each of the dishes.

February 2011

The Norwegian Cooking group kicked off its first meeting at Norway House on February 13th. We enjoyed homemade romegrote, kransekake, rhubarb compote, chicken with saffron and cinnamon and pea soup in addition to learning a bit about how each dish was prepared.
