Our September 18, 2009, lodge meeting included a presentation by guest speaker, Ms. Jannicke Jæger, Counselor of Communications at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Washington, D.C.

She spoke about Norwegian films of the last 30 years and what factors led to the dynamic film industry we see today.

About Jannicke Jæger

Ms. Jæger has represented Norway in the United States since August, 2007, under the auspices of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She was born and grew up in Bergen. To earn her masters degree in political science she moved to Oslo, enrolled in the University of Oslo and was awarded her degree in 1987.

She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990. Her postings have been Second Secretary at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Manila, The Philippines, from 1991 to 1994, and Consul at the Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco from 1994 to 1997.

Then followed six years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo, where she served as Principal Desk Officer for North American Relations.Her next assignment was Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa, Canada, after which she was assigned to Washington, D.C.

Ms. Jæger is married to Erik Hoftun, and they have five children ages 8-20. Last May we enjoyed hearing her as the speaker at the Syttende Mai dinner dance.
