The Viking Longhouse (and cooking in the longhouse)

Saturday, June 16, 2018
5:00 p.m. potluck, followed by presentation

Lodge members Owen and Elspeth Christianson have studied Viking-age Scandinavia for over 40 years. In 2011 they built a replica longhouse on their land in Wisconsin, which is now used as an educational resource by the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. At our June 16 meeting, they share their knowledge of longhouses in general, and the experience of building this particular house. Elspeth will also discuss how cooking was done in this kind of dwelling. Read more about the UW-Green Bay Viking Longhouse.
