If you have children and would like to participate in lodge activities, or if you have ideas, please contact our Youth Director, Annemarie McCaslin, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In June 2013, we held a children's craft party at the Norway House, where children were able to make Norwegian-themed craft projects for Father’s day gifts for their dads, granddads, or anyone special!
Projects included a viking hat key-chain fob, a small Norwegian flag magnet for younger children or a large Norwegian flag picture frame for older children, and a Father’s Day card.
Norwegian waffles and juice were served.
In October 2011, we held a series of five classes on Sundays at the Norway House. Two sessions were offered each Sunday: a teen/adult group and a parent/younger child group.
Thanks to Chris Kalke, director of the Nordic Dancers of Washington D.C. for being the lead instructor and to the many other Nordic dance group members who assisted.
The youth performed both at our bazaar on Saturday Dec. 3rd and at our Juletrefest on Saturday Dec. 10th.
We had our first Young Viking meeting in February 2010! The children had a good time listening to the story “Why Kings and Queens don’t wear crowns”.
We also decorated paper crowns, learned to sing “ Row, row, row your boat” in Norwegian, played Kongen befaler (similar to Simon Says) and also had the chance to enjoy free play time.
We currently don't have a youth director, so please volunteer so we can continue to have events for the young lodge members.
